Associate Director for Museum Advancement
Position: Reporting to the Director/CEO, the Associate Director for Museum Advancement is the Museum’s chief development officer and leads the Museum’s major gifts campaign, national membership program, National Council, local and national business sponsorship, annual fundraising, major donor relations, and internet-based fundraising strategies. Initiates and maintains relationships with individuals, foundations, businesses, and government funders that will support the Museum and its mission. Represents the Museum to a wide variety of local, regional and national publics, including members, donors, collectors, businesses, foundations and government agencies. Is a leader of the senior management team that manages the ongoing operations of the Museum including: strategic planning; resource and budget management; and project implementation.
Qualifications: This position is a rare opportunity for a development professional who is highly motivated and seeks to make a difference working in a cultural institution of national and local importance. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably with a museum or other cultural institution. S/he will be highly organized; an experienced manager; and an energetic fundraiser with a proven track record. A people-person and a team player who rolls up his/her sleeves will flourish in this position. Travel (up to 20% of the time) in the Northeast and nationally will be required. Familiarity with philanthropy in the Berkshires and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is desirable. Weekend and evening work as needed for key donor-related Museum events and programs. Minimum Bachelors Degree required.
